Abstract

The landraces of rice, Norungan and Mattaikar collected from Tamil Nadu and, other adapted varieties viz., TRY 1, TNAU Rice TRY (3), CSR 36 and CSR 23 were found to be tolerant to sodicity at both seedling and reproductive stages and could effectively be used either for commercial cultivation in sodic soils or used as donors in the hybridization programme for improving sodicity tolerance in rice.
