A novel source of CMS in pigeonpea derived from Cajanus reticulatus
Main Article Content
Abstract
The present study reports the development of a new CMSsource (A8) with cytoplasm derived from Cajanus reticulatus (Dryander) F. V. Muell var. grandifolius, a wild relative of pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp.). The plants of this male-sterility system do not produce pollen grains and the androecium is underdeveloped. The paper also reports identification of six diverse male-sterility maintainers.
