Born at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India on 21 August 1962. Educated at St. Theresa’s Girls High School and Junior College, Eluru, 1967-1980,  College of Agriculture, Bapatla, Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University, B. Sc (Ag), 1981-85, M.Sc (Ag), 1985-87, College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar, Acharya NG Ranga Agricultural University, Ph.D Genetics and Plant Breeding, 1989-1996

Joined Directorate of Oilseeds Research, Hyderabad, 1993 as Scientist and presently working as Principal Scientist (Plant Breeding) since 2009 at ICAR-Indian Institute of Oilseeds Research, Rajendrangar, Hyderabad & Principal Investigator (AICRP) Castor network since 2013

Awards/Honours: CR Ranganatham Gold Medal award for securing highest OGPA in M. Sc (Ag), Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, College of Agriculture, Bapatla, CSIR Senior Research Fellowship award in Ph. D, 1993-1995, Chaudhari Devi Lal Outstanding  AICRP Award for AICRP (Castor) network, 2005

Research Areas: Conventional breeding, Varietal and hybrid breeding, resistance and heterosis breeding in rice and castor, seed production

Major research contribution: 9 hybrids and 5 varieties released through CVRC or SVRC, 6 registered parental lines, 20 pistillate and 88 male lines in castor
