February 1982. Educated at Government Model High School, Mulbagal, Kolar
1995-1997; First Grade College, KGF 1997-1999; College of Agriculture, GKVK
University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore, B.Sc. (Ag), 1999-2003, M.Sc.
(Ag) in Genetics and Plant Breeding, 2003-2005; Ph.D. in Genetics at
ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, 2012-2015.
Dr. R. Abdul Fiyaz started his professional career as Scientist (Plant Breeding) with ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region Meghalaya, 2009-2012; Scientist (Plant Breeding), ICAR-Indian Institute of Rice Research, Hyderabad 2012 to till date.

9 rice varieties through CVRC or SVRC and published more than 40 research
articles. Mapped QTL’s for Bakanae disease resistance, developed protocol for
screening bakanae disease resistance. His current
focus is on introgression of yield enhancing and stress resistance genes/QTLs
into elite varieties through MAS. Genetic enhancement of Speciality rices of
India.
