Dr. Pradeep Kumar Singh did his Ph.D. in the year 2003 from sandwich programme between Indira Gandhi, Agriculture University, Raipur, Chattisgarh and International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), Manila, Philippines. Presently, he is working as a Principal Scientist, Division of Genetics, ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, Pusa, New Delhi.

Dr. Singh has significantly contributed in the field of AgricultureSciences especially in Genetics and Plant Breeding. He works on molecular and conventional breeding for wheat improvement. He did research on development more than ten improved varieties of wheat i.e. HD 3059, HD 3086, HD 3090, HS 542, HD 3118, HI 8737, HD 4728, HD 3117 etc. He established marker assisted breeding laboratory, and identified genes/QTLs for abiotc stress and introgressed in the genetic background of popular wheat varieties, HD 2733, GW322.

Dr. Singh received awards and fellowships from different organizations. He is involved in research for more than 13 years in the field of 'crop improvement' for multiple stress and acted as PI in the projects funded by DBT-GOI and ICAR for developing rust resistance and climate resilient varieties of wheat. He has guided 02 M.Sc. students. He has so far published more than 20 research papers in national and international journals and participated in many national and international conferences.

Considering all the achievement and contribution in the field of Agriculture (Genetics and Plant Breeding). The BOARD OF AWARDS of the Society has recommended his name for the ISGBP VS MATHUR MEMORIAL AWARD 2017, as such the Society confers upon him TH the same today on the 5 OCTOBER, 2017
