A PROGRAMME of breeding for high yield requires information on the nature and
magnitude of variation in the available material, associations of characters with
yield and among themselves and the extent of environmental influence on these
characters. But, very little information on these aspects is available for finger
millet (Eleusine coracana, Gaertn.). An attempt was, therefore, made in the
present investigation to study the intcrre1ation<;hips and heritabilities of some
quantitative traits of finger millet in a set of selected lines from the genetic stock
maintained at this station. The results of the study are reported in this paper.
