SEED STORAGE PROTEINS AND JNTRASPECIFIC RELATIONSHIPS IN CICER ARIETINUM L.

Phylogenetic aspects of storage seed protein analysis by polyacrylamide gel
electrophoresis indicated that both the desi and kabuli types are. the varieties of the
same species Cicer arietinum L. and corroborated the earlier findings that there is
no evidence to classify kabuli types as Cicer kabulicum. The results indicated that
all the four varieties have very great homology, the number of bands resolved was
9 in each case and the pattern was also the same except minor differences in position
and distance of bands.
