ISOENZYME DIFFERENCES IN EARLY GROWTH OF CHINESE SPRING (TRITICUM AESTIVUM) WITH AND WITHOUT AEGILOPS UM-BELLULATA CHROMOSOME SEGMENT

THE gel electrophoresis technique has proved to be an excellent tool in the
hands of geneticists for determining the number and location of the genes
involved in the synthesis of a protein or an enzyme. Genetic variations in the
isoenzymes of various enzyme systems in maize have been studied (Schwartz,
1960;
Beckman, Scandalios and Brewbaker, 1964; Scandalios, 1965, 1967).
