INFLUENCE OF NON-GENETIC VARIATION IN SEED SIZE ON QUANTITATIVE CHARACTERS IN BARLEY

Published on

SEEDS formed by the central florets of a spikelet in wheat and lateral floret of
a spikelet in barley plants heterozygous at v locus (6-rowed
vs. 2-rowed) and
sbme 6-rowed cultures are generally smaller than those formed by the lateral
and central florets respectively. Similarly seeds formed in the top and bottom
spikelets may be smaller than those formed in the central spikelets of an ear.
