GENETIC VARIABILITY, CORRELATIONS AND PATH ANALYSIS IN DESHI COTTON (GOSSYPIUM ARBOREUM L.)

Published on

Genetic variability, correlations and path coefficients were studied in deshi cotton
(Gossypium arboreum L.) taking 26 phenotypically diverse genotypes. Moderate to high
estimates of heritability along with high genetic advance were observed for fineness
micronaire, lint yield/plant, bartlett's index, seed cotton yield/plant and number of
bolls/plant. The seed cotton yield was closely associated with lint yield/plant, bolls/plant,
plant height, boll weight and bartlett's index. Considering the association and path
analysis, lint yield/plant, bolls/plant and boll weight had a great influence on seed cotton
yield/plant.
