GAMMA-RAY INDUCED FEMALE MUTATION IN CASTOR

Three female mutants in castor (Ricinus communis L.) were obtained from 100 to 125 kR
gamma-rays treated M2 population. The racemes of these mutants bore only pistillate
flowers. This character is monogenic, recessive and these mutants can be used for large
scale hybrid seed production.
