FURTHER INHERITANCE STUDIES OF TWO MUTATIONS IN CICER

Published on

During the year 1934, in the crop of gram at the Botanical Sub-station,
Kamal, two mutant plants showing distinctly different leaf characters
from the normal were observed in two strains,
I. P. 17 and I. P. 25. The
normal leaf-form in gram is compound, but in both the mutants the leaf
was abnormal. In the mutant noticed in I. P.
17 the leaf was simple and
in I. P.
25 it was compound-bipinnate with tiny lea:flets.. The morphological
description of the two mutants designated as ' simple-leaved ' and ' tinyleaved ' was recorded by Ekbote
(1937), in comparison with the parents
from which they orjginated.
