CYTOLOGICAL BASIS FOR A CASE OF STERILITY IN AN INTERSPECIFIC WHEAT HYBRID

Published on

STERILITY in interspecific hybrids of plants is one of the most commonly observed and
thoroughly investigated phenomenon. However, in many cases the nature and mode
of action involved in causing this sterility is not well understood (Stebbins, 1950).
Further, the occurrence of such sterility has great significance in evolution and in┬Ěthe
determination of interspecific relationships; hence observations on such cases are always
desirable.
