AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF QUANTITATIVE INHERITANCE IN COTTON

Published on

PROGRESSIVE genetic improvement, which is the principal objective of plant breeding,
can be secured by continuous selection. To pursue this objective efficiently, several
questions require to be answered. The important among these concern the type of
initial material and the period, intensity and pattern of selection. In studying these
aspects of selection, the influence of environment cannot be neglected, since it is well
known that quantitative characters are highly susceptible to the environment.
