TAXONOMIC STATUS OF ORYZA COLLINA (TRIMEN) SHARMA ET SHASTRY

SHARMA and Shastry (1965), purely on morphological criteria, raised the
ceylonese form of O. officinalis to specific level as O. collina (Trimen) Sharma
et Shastry comb. nov. But, the morphological and cytogenetical evidences
obtained by the present author during the course of his study on speciation in
series Latifoliae Tateoka do not lend support to such a revision.
