THE knowledge of the degree of association between different characters helps the
plant breeder to make selection for a particull'1r character. At Oregon State College
an extensive wheat breeding programme
i$ under way to develop early, short, stiff
strawed, high tillering wheat varieties for Western Oregon. The objectives of this
study were to determine the relationship between date of heading, plant height and
tillering in three wheat crosses, that might be of value for selection purposes.
