Twenty genotypes comprised of three wild species of rice were studied for correlation
among sixteen characters i.e. Plant height, number of tillers, test weight, number
of internodes, number of leaves, length of leaf, number of spikelets, length of
spikelets, length of anther, length of stigma, pollen viability, pollen size, length of
awn, seed setting, yield and germination percentage. Correlations between grain
yield and each of sixteen characters were partitioned into direct and indirect effects.
Number of spikelets per panicle was the most important character in exerting
maximum direct effect on yield.
