HETEROSIS AND INBREEDING DEPRESSION IN SESAME

In a ten-parent diallel olsesame (Sesamum incIicuDJ 1..), 21 cross combinations gave significant
heterosis lor
seed yield. Mean heterosis was high lo~ number 01capsules and branches/plant and
low lor plant height and capsule length. Heterosis lor grain yield and Its component characters
was highly correlated.
In general; crosses with signifi~ant heterosis also showed significant
inbreeding depression in F2.,
