GENETICS OF TWO NEW MUTANTS IN CIGER ARIETINUM

Published on

THE Bengal gram (Cicer arietinum L) has been found to be more mutable than any
other economic crop plant. Several mutations have already been reported (Ekbote,
1937, 1942; Vachhani, 1942; Ramanujam and Singh, 1945; Balasubramanyan, 1951;
Argiker, 1952; Singh and Bhagchandani, 1953). Two new mutants were discovered
in 1949-50 during the course of plant breeding work at Kanpur. This paper deals
with their morphology and genetics.
