CROSSABILITY AMONG MACROSPERMA AND MICROSPERMA VARIETIES OF LENS CULINARIS MEDIK.

Eight intervarietal crosseswere successruUymade between microspennaand macrospefTDII varieties
01 L. culiDaris Morphological observations and yield attributes recorded in FI and .':z generations
showed that certain charaders Uke Dower colour and cotyledon colour segregated as per
Mendelian Laws, whereas
seed coat colour in F3 and subsequent generations appeared in a very
large number
01 intermediate colour combinations. Improvement in lOO-seed weight was well
marked. Cytological observations showed marked difference In genomes of parent varletles In
some ~rids but normal meiosis in most 01 the PMe confirms dose phylogenetic: relationship
between the two subspecies.
