COLCHICINE INDUCED CHROMOSOMAL INTERCHANGE AND COLCHITETRAPLOIDY IN PHLOX DRUMMONDII

Published on

Young seedlings of Phlox drummondii were treated with colchicine. Plants showing
characteristic features of interchange (translocation), and colchitetraploidy during meiosis
were isolated. The interchange heterozygote exhibited a lot of variation in petal character
and therefore these two characters appear to be correlated. The colchiploid exhibited usual
characteristic features of autopolyploidy.
